Malacca, 6 April 2026 – A delegation from the State of Melaka undertook a series of strategic industry engagements during a working visit to Shanghai from 24 to 28 March, held in conjunction with SEMICON China 2026, aimed at strengthening industry linkages and exploring new opportunities within the global semiconductor ecosystem.
The delegation, comprising Datuk Ginie Lim, CEO of Invest Melaka, and YB Datuk Khaidhirah Binti Abu Zahar, Deputy EXCO of Investment, Industry and TVET Development, State of Melaka, engaged with key semiconductor players through targeted meetings and exhibition visits at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
Among the companies visited were Grand Innosys, AccoTest, and Sidea Semiconductor Equipment (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. Engagements with AccoTest and Grand Innosys were particularly significant, as both companies have established operations in Melaka. Conversations focused on their latest developments, operational priorities, and future expansion considerations, reflecting the state’s continued role in supporting high-value semiconductor activities.
“Melaka’s focus is not just on attracting investments, but on building an ecosystem that can support long-term industry growth. Engagements like these allow us to stay closely aligned with industry developments and ensure our policies remain relevant,” said YB Datuk Khaidhirah Binti Abu Zahar, Deputy EXCO of Investment, Industry and TVET Development, State of Melaka.
Building on these engagements, the delegation also participated in a focused discussion with Naura Technology, facilitated by the China Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA) and its Director of International Affairs, Mr Zhao Xueyi. The meeting, which included Mr Wang Xiangang, Director of Naura, provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on industry developments and explore potential areas of collaboration.
The session also served as a platform to introduce Melaka’s investment landscape including its strategic location, established industrial base, and ongoing initiatives in talent development and investment facilitation.
Datuk Ginie Lim, CEO of Invest Melaka, said: Our engagements at SEMICON China reflect a continuous effort to stay connected with both existing investors and emerging industry players. Beyond showcasing Melaka’s strengths, they provide clarity on where the industry is heading and how Melaka can position itself more effectively within that direction”.
Collectively, these engagements reflect Melaka’s proactive approach in strengthening both existing partnerships and new connections, reinforcing its position as a competitive and forward-looking hub for semiconductor and advanced manufacturing in Southeast Asia.
