MSIA Dialogue Highlights Strong Ecosystem as Key to Melaka’s Semiconductor Future

17 July 2026

The future of Melaka’s semiconductor industry will be shaped by the strength of the ecosystem behind it.
That was the focus running through the MSIA Dialogue & Networking Session with the Chief Minister of Melaka, organised by the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association under the leadership of President, Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai.

In his keynote address, YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Bin Yusoh shared Melaka’s vision for the industry’s next phase, highlighting the semiconductor sector’s contribution of RM17.6 billion, or 36.1% of the state’s economy, and the establishment of Melaka’s first one-stop e-waste management centre.

The programme also featured a dialogue with Mr Eng Seng Meng, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Infineon Technologies (Malaysia), before shifting the focus to execution through a panel moderated by Datuk Ginie Lim, CEO of Invest Melaka.

Joined by Mr Derrick Tanggapan, Director of Malaysian Investment Development Authority and representatives from Dominant Opto Technologies Sdn Bhd and Maybank, the discussion centred on preparing Malaysian semiconductor SMEs to seize opportunities across the evolving global value chain.

Strong partnerships, capable local companies and future-ready talent will ultimately define the next chapter of Melaka’s semiconductor journey while advancing its Semiconductor Strategic Plan 2026–2035.

Also present were the state Investment, Industrial and TVET Development Deputy Exco Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar; State Finance Officer Datuk Wira Salhah Salleh; Melaka Corporation Chief Executive Officer (MCORP) Datuk Mohd Yusof Abu Bakar as well as other dignitaries.
