In Melaka, conversations on talent development are increasingly driven by one question, how can training better reflect what industry actually needs on the ground.
This was the focus of a recent TVET Advisory Council roundtable chaired by YB Datuk Khaidhirah binti Abu Zahar, Deputy EXCO of Investment, Industry and TVET Development, bringing together Datuk Ginie Lim, CEO of Invest Melaka, Mr Haiqal bin Jantan, CEO of MISDEC, alongside representatives from industry and educational institutions.
The discussion centred on strengthening how skills are developed across key sectors, with greater emphasis on industry-driven input and practical application.
This shift is already taking place on the ground. More than 30 companies in Melaka are involved in the National Dual Training System (SLDN), contributing to curriculum design, hands-on training, and workplace exposure.
As industries continue to evolve, the ability to translate industry needs into practical training pathways will remain central to building a sustainable workforce for Melaka.
