The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the development of Hospital Putra 2 and the Brain & Spine Hospital was officiated by YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh, Chief Minister of Melaka, marking another important step in strengthening the state’s position as a competitive regional healthcare hub.
Driven by the steady growth of Melaka’s medical tourism sector with Hospital Putra welcoming an average of over 10,000 medical tourists annually between 2023 and 2025 the RM678 million development reflects continued investor confidence in the state’s healthcare industry.
Targeted for completion by 2029, the integrated healthcare complex is envisioned as a “health city”, incorporating modern hospital facilities, residential components, retail spaces and a college. Upon completion, Hospital Putra 2 will serve as an early cardiac treatment centre for the southern region before patients are referred to the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur for advanced care, further strengthening Melaka’s integrated healthcare ecosystem.
Also in attendance were the State Secretary Datuk Wira Azhar Arshad; State EXCO for Health, Human Resources and Unity Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem; Deputy EXCO for Investment, Industry and TVET Development Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar; CEO of Perbadanan Melaka (MCORP) Datuk Mohd Yusof Abu Bakar; Chairman of MRCB Land Sdn Bhd Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini; CEO of Invest Melaka Berhad Datuk Ginie Lim; CEO of Putra Specialist Hospital Melaka Mohd Zahiruddin Ahmad; and CEO of Putra Specialist as well as Director of Neuro Spinal Medical Sdn Bhd, Akbar Hussain Meera Hussain.
