Melaka Businesses Positioned for Growth Following Milestone National Trade Value Expansion

26 June 2026

Trade expansion brings ongoing opportunities for businesses across sectors.

Malaysia’s trade value surpassed RM3 trillion, marking a historic milestone under the Malaysia MADANI framework and underscoring the resilience of the nation’s export ecosystem.

Against this backdrop, YB Tuan Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), engaged with industry leaders during a dialogue session hosted by Malacca Chinese Chambers Of Commerce & Industry, alongside representatives from MATRADE, MIDF, and Datuk Ginie Lim, CEO of Invest Melaka.

Beyond the numbers, industry players gained insights into how local companies can strengthen their export capabilities and leverage the various trade facilitation and financing support through government agencies.

For Melaka, these opportunities are equally significant. In 2025, the state recorded a trade value of RM20.91 billion, comprising RM5.94 billion in exports and RM14.97 billion in imports.

The day concluded with a visit to Oriental Food Industries Holdings BHD (OFIH), one of Melaka’s most established snack food manufacturers. Its presence serves as a reminder that behind every figure are businesses that continue to innovate, create jobs, and contribute to the state’s economic journey.
