Melaka’s healthcare landscape continues to expand with the development of Mahkota Medical Centre’s new hospital block. The ceremony was officiated by YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Melaka, with Datuk Ginie Lim, CEO of Invest Melaka, also in attendance.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the new 10-storey block will feature a Smart Ward ICU, expanded parking facilities and enhanced healthcare amenities, strengthening patient care and service delivery.
As of June 2026, the state recorded 339,398 medical tourist arrivals, with Mahkota Medical Centre receiving 127,216 patients, 37.5% of the total.
Beyond expanding healthcare facilities, the project is expected to support growth in the healthcare workforce, particularly in nursing and allied health professions, with employment projected to increase by 5% to 10%.
The project further strengthens Melaka’s healthcare ecosystem and supports the state’s position as one of Malaysia’s leading medical tourism destinations.
