At the Brazil @ Semicon Southeast Asia 2026 – Dialogue Session with the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA), one thing became clear early on, this was not just about exchanging views, but about finding alignment.

Hosted by Her Excellency Daniella Ortega Menezes, Ambassador of Brazil to Malaysia, the session brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and research institutions.

On one side, the session began with a clear articulation of national direction by Mr Alessandro Campos, General Coordinator of Semiconductor Technologies at the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MCTI), who shared Brazil’s ambition in enhancing its semiconductor technologies and innovation base through R&D.

On the other, the discussion was complemented by broader industry and geopolitical insights from Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai, President of MSIA, alongside emerging technology opportunities such as silicon carbide (SiC), a key growth segment for the future, highlighted by Mr Bryan Leow, MSIA Board Member.

A clearer picture emerged, not of competition, but of complementarity.

The focus shifted towards identifying where both sides connect, and how those intersections can be translated into practical collaboration.

Representing Invest Melaka, our CEO, Datuk Ginie Lim, shared how Melaka is approaching this next phase of growth, not just by expanding infrastructure, but by building a more deliberate ecosystem that connects industry, talent, and long-term strategy.

Because ultimately, the question is no longer what each ecosystem can achieve on its own but what can be built together.
